I wasn't a part of this, nor did I witness it, but only in NYC...nuff said. Pin It

Saving Space?

I found this clever little washing machine over at swissmiss while making the blog rounds and just had to share. It's net yet here in the states sadly, but meet Smeg LBL16RO Washing Machine with sink. The cute pink washer comes equipped with 15 programmed wash cycles, wash load capacity of 5 kg, an LCD display, anti-flood/foaming features, and a 31X33X13 cm on top of it all.

Oh, Smeg LBL16RO, how lovely you would look in my bathroom and save me oh so much space in my kitchen. Yes, my washer/dryer is smack in the middle of my kitchen.

I want one too

I found this while perusing my line of blogs here. It's called the Cyclops and appears to not even be in production yet, but wow. I've never owned a computerized sewing machine before, but I imagine we would become fast friends.

Cyclops sewing machine, I heart you.

Tap necklaces Sneak Peek

They're here! I was able to work with all of the vintage tap shoe taps I've been sitting on and make several one of a kind necklaces with the bunch. I put each of them on a simple silver linked chain and varying lengths depending on the individual size of each tap. A couple are at a regular, more conservative length and then there are a couple stunners in the bunch that have super long chains to really make the taps a statement piece. Enjoy a little sneak peek below:

I'll be adding each of the new tap necklaces in the shop this weekend with more detailed photos and descriptions. I'm pretty excited about this bunch.

Vintage Mechanisms

These are three of the newest necklaces making their way into the shop as of late. I love the finish of each of the pendants giving them a stained vintage feel. I've also been getting used to using this longer skinnier version of chain in more of my regular necklaces. I think it gives them more feminine and delicate touch.

Each little pendant represents a tool for expressing creativity and would make a great gift for an artist, musician, or those that appreciate either of the two. Just click each of the images to get to see more shots of each.

Upcycled "Smoked Tote"

I'm so tickled with this little tote I couldn't stand not to share it with the world, even though it was a gift, not a keeper. This year at Christmas dinner the BF handed me two sacks that the hams had arrived in for dinner from the past two years. He asked if I could make anything from them knowing I've got the creative bug in me and after a minute of thought I said I thought I could manage a tote from the smoked pork smelling sturdy cotton fabric. He fancied the idea and that gave me the perfect project for his upcoming birthday.

It was more difficult than I originally imagined, but I guess that was more from stress that I was winging this tote from scratch and had no extra fabric if any mess ups were made. I'm not really a pattern following kind of gal and my mind seems to work much better on the fly...so I was completely pleased that this tote turned out as well as it did on the first shot.

I used the two ham sacks which are perfectly stained and worn to give it a vintage farm feel and paired it with the last of my vintage blue striped upholstery fabric I hoarded a few years back. I finished the handles rough faced open and stitched everything together with a light pink thread even though it was for my guy.

It's easy to be a little greener when such great materials are at your fingertips. Next time you go to throw out a package or other seemingly useless material try asking yourself if there's anything creative you could reuse it for...you just might surprise yourself.

Thank goodness they're not my size...

I've got a thing for vintage shoes and working for Etsy certainly doesn't help me in this department. Pretty much all day I get to browse the best of the best in Vintage beauties. Below is a small selection of my favorites currently on Etsy...and yes, thank goodness they aren't in my size, otherwise there may have been a "situation."

Enjoy:

Just click the photos to view the shoes up close and personal. I guess you could say red shoes tickle my fancy...do you have a thing for Vintage on Etsy too? Click here to browse the entire collection of Vintage shoes listed on Etsy to find a few of your own diamonds in the rough.

Could it be true???

I just heard a "confirmed" rumor (does that still make it a rumor?) that there might be future craft classes offered in select Anthropologie stores. Please let it be true and PLEASE let it be in a NYC store!!Thanks to Decor8 for leaking this rumor, and I hope if any of you hear any updates or news about these classes no matter what it is that you will be sure to come let me know asap! I would be so all over any kind of class offered by Anthropologie...it's pretty much a terrible weakness of mine that store...

Octopus Garden

This little lovely recently made it's debut in the shop. The octopus pendant is unlike others I have seen in the past and has a delicate whimsy about it.
If you like it as much as I do, you can find this little sea creature waiting swimmingly here in the shop!

Tap Shoe Taps

I recently stumbled across these incredible vintage taps, which are the toe and heel pieces that are generally affixed to tap shoes. It was perfect...I immediately saw the necklaces they were destined for in my head and scooped them up.

I'd love to know the back story on them, for instance, if they belonged to a specific person or dance group, or if they were practice shoes vs. commercial stock shoes...the possibilities are endless. I think the one safe thing to assume is that they have been well used.

For now, I'm just sitting on them pretty and enjoying their simplicity in a group. They'll definitely be necklaces in good time, and you will be the first to see when they are complete.
