Thanksgiving Escape

I'd like to give a special thanks to all who have reached out with kind words and advice for Basil. The past few days (and nights) have been so rewarding as he learns his way and is becoming acclimated to the family quicker than we both could have imagined.

Today we packed him up and headed down to the Virginia farm where my mother lives - Beechwood overlooks the James river and feels like a true escape. We are relaxing in front of the fire this evening as we prepare for a big Thanksgiving day of eats tomorrow and celebrate my birthday. I always thought I would dread getting older, but have to admit I feel like I'm only just getting started - can you relate?

I hope each of you have a safe and happy Thanksgiving with you and yours.

  1. I'm so happy to hear you're enjoying your time with Basil and that he is adapting quickly. :)

I hope you have fabulous Thanksgiving and birthday celebrations with your family! We left Virginia today to be my family in North Carolina. We had a lovely drive down 58 through some gorgeous small country towns...a perfect way to start this special weekend.

I've been blessed to have one wonderful year after another and I look forward to all of my remaining years.

    Happiest of birthdays to you!

  2. Monica,

You are too kind and we always look forward to hearing from you - Basil is sleeping in his bed next to us right now and has loved all of the excitement, open fields, and smells of the farm.

Love your philosophy on Birthdays, so so true. Be well.
